Daffodil Park is a series centered around a small trailer park in the fictional town of Acheron, located in the state of West Virginia.Though the main focus is on the younger residents of the park, there is plenty to dig up in the shadow if you can stomach it - everything from a cult led by Bennett Wormwood to the horrors of retail.

Please be aware that this series is littered with dark themes.

Daffodil Park

A Peek.
2000 — 2009
trailer park.
heavy dead dove, some horror and angst elements, mostly campy.

Acheron is always behind; always has been and always will be. Shielded by mountains and miles of dense forests, the place is as out of touch and dead-end as it gets. People tend to instinctively feel a sense of unease, loneliness or even agitation being in the place, and it’s really no wonder why.The prospects out here aren’t very high; making a living is near impossible, and it reflects in the people. Most of the usuals about town don’t even live there, preferring to settle down in places that thrive and only pass through on their way to work. The ones that do, well, you can find most of them in the town’s sole trailer park.

Acheron has plenty of abandoned buildings.

Key Locations

What’s this about a cult? Rumors. Just rumors. At least, the residents hope (or prefer not to think about it). Cops turn a blind eye to any disappearances, claiming that people tend to have their imaginations run wild when they live in the doldrums. Much easier to bother the locals over speeding than to mess around with some supposed group of murderers in the woods. Just get home before too dark, mind your business, and you’re gonna be just fine. Best not to come across as the town loon acting all paranoid - you might draw attention.

All that said, why live here at all? Well ain’t that question cute. Something any typical city slicker would ask with stars in their eyes and pity set in the line of their mouth. The answer’s pretty damn simple — it’s cheap, and as long as you don’t stick your nose where it don’t belong, most people ain’t interested in pestering you much. Not even the cops. Rumor has it Charlie Kennedy has ‘em turning a blind eye, but it’s more likely that they’re playing a role in everything that makes this place feel so dismal.

Most of the rumors seem to be centered around Acheron Park; a sprawling state park and nature preserve.

Daffodil Park is a sprawling trailer park, littered with trash, old cars, and abandoned clotheslines. Rent is cheap on account of maintenance rarely ever getting done, considering that the only staff seems to be Charlie Kennedy, the landlord, and the unofficial cleaning crew of one, Kipper. Some of the unoccupied homes are falling apart, those with inhabitants are worse for wear, but it ain’t all doom and gloom in the park.More often than not, there’s music playing, someone whooping or filling the air with laughter. Daniel, Charlie’s youngest son, spends much of his time outside talking on and off with the other residents and treating every day like a lazy summer afternoon. Some are less social; best to steer clear of Blair Miller’s place, and Crawford’s too depending on what sort of mood he’s in.

Current Population: 25

Open Lots: 7

Early Jacobs

Twenty-five year old cashier of Sunshine Mart. Danny’s best friend, and your bully. Bad at feelings, but pretty damn good at leaving a hole in a sheet of drywall.

Crawford Kennedy

Eldest son of Charlie Kennedy. Swallows down resentment as often as he does whiskey. A haunted past and a standoffish attitude keeps Crawford from really bonding with anyone apart from Cain.

Danny Kennedy

The star of Daffodil Park, at least in his own opinion. A magnetic personality and a thirst for adrenaline makes Danny quite the entertaining figure.

Kipper

Black sheep of Acheron and Charlie Kennedy’s sole employee. Just as accustomed to getting dogged as he is to being the town’s punching bag.

Gary Werner

Gary's always been a people person,-just not the sort people are fond of. Tries his darnedest to keep everyone content, only at the risk of his own happiness.

Isaiah Barry

Isaiah is by no means a good man. He knows it just as well as anyone who's spent an afternoon with him does.
Resigned to it, too, just as the seasons are resigned to changin.

characters will be added as the series progresses!

Early Jacobs

Twenty-five.
Male.
Cashier at Sunshine Mart.

6’1”.
Green eyes.
Red hair.
Various tattoos: a snake, a stars, etc.
Lean, athletic build.
Smells of gasoline from drives in his grandmother’s old pickup truck and lemon from the cheap soap he uses.

Personality

On the surface, Early appears playful, funny, and carefree. His issues with anger and rejection often rear their head, however. Aggressive, mocking, impulsive, mean and stupid is likely how most people that have really gotten to see both sides of him would describe him.A low self-esteem and general horrible attitude seem to taint every aspect of his interactions with others, especially when it comes to you. When you’re involved, Early’s bad traits only seem further amplified until he’s no better than just an average bully: purposefully engaging just to put you down, force you into doing what he wants to do. He favors humiliating you and trying to make you cry, but secretly feels protective of and even believes that he’s in love with you

Likes: hanging out with Danny and the usual suspects around Daffodil Park, smoking (cigarettes, weed), cheap beer (Pabst Blue Ribbon, namely), fucking, hunting; or just shooting beer cans to quell boredom, cartoons (never watches anything with any real substance), diner food.Dislkes: killjoys, being ignored, Acheron and most of the assholes living in Daffodil Park, his shitty job (especially his manager, Gary), feeling vulnerable or having heart-to-heart conversations, rejection.

Home

Early still resides in his grandma’s place in Daffodil Park, and hasn’t bothered with redecorating since her passing. It’s still a tacky dump: a small yellow trailer lined with bookshelves of kitschy vintage planters and tacky Christmas figurines, floral wallpaper adorns each wall to clash terribly with the floral print of the couches and chairs. Any hangouts here usually end with a piece of her furniture or some decoration getting destroyed. Early’s bedroom is the only place different: layered with torn band posters, black bedsheets, and various records.

Origin

Sarah had Early young, and thought it best to ditch him to live with his grandma, Mildred. She named him, raised him, and though Early’s upbringing was relatively normal, his grandma was deeply religious. Constantly hammering Bible verses down Early’s throat and dragging him to church several days out of the week caused Early to develop a nasty rebellious streak. Sneaking out at night became common, and that led to Early starting to hang around Danny Kennedy, often too drunk to think straight or with his hand down the pants of those whose names he couldn’t be bothered to remember.Somehow, Early found himself in a committed relationship during this period with someone that he believed was the love of his life, a woman named Allison. Unfortunately, she cheated on him and they’ve had zero contact with one another since. Last Early’s heard, Allison wound up married to some other man and moved out of Acheron. This only further caused him to spiral.Mildred passed away in Early’s early twenties, leaving him entirely alone with her trailer, a beat-up pick-up truck, and his dead-end job at Sunshine Mart.

Crawford Kennedy

Twenty-eight.
Male.
Construction worker in a different town.

6’3”.
Pale blue eyes.
Buzzcut
Callused hands.
Healthy, muscular build.
Smells of sweat, pine, and faintly of whiskey.

Personality

Most people don’t see any side of Crawford that is not stoic, entirely dismissive, and reserved; he prefers keeping himself closed off. Away from everyone else. Maintaining control is much easier when you’re alone. However, beneath the shield of indifference and the fierce glare, Crawford is intelligent, easily annoyed (both with himself and other people), and highly observant. Prone to being brooding, nihilistic, and spiteful. When Crawford’s focus is on someone, protective instincts bleed into his every interaction with them; he becomes exceedingly possessive, wants to control them in order to keep them safe, and still rarely states feelings for them (he views vulnerability as weakness). Even if he does soften around the object of his affection, Crawford will openly discourage them from going out with friends, finding a job, getting into a relationship with anyone apart from him, etc.

Likes: Cain, whiskey, hiking and being surrounded by the quiet of the mountains, sex (though Crawford abstains from meaningless hook-ups), cars (particularly vintage models), comfortable silence, you.Dislkes: when newcomers move into Daffodil Park (more to scope out, possibly shaking up his sense of safety), Danny and Charlie’s endless bullshit, any threats toward himself and Cain, nightmares.

Home

Crawford lives in a larger trailer than most of the people in Daffodil Park with his dog, Cain. The house is kept clean, although it lacks any decor. As far as decorations go, Crawford’s got a nice gun case in the bedroom and a guitar in the living room that he never touches. The necessary furniture sits, mostly unused, in each room of the house. Cain’s fur tends to get onto everything, but Crawford never tries to get the dog off of the furniture; as far as he’s concerned, this is Cain’s house too.

Origin

Raised in Daffodil Park by his father, Charlie, and mother, Mae, Crawford is the oldest of two sons. His mother died shortly after having Danny, his younger brother, and though Danny has no idea what became of her, Crawford found the truth out while sorting through his father’s belongings at the age of eleven. He isn’t certain whether it was his father who murdered his mother or someone else, but there was enough photographic evidence to suggest she was deceased. Charlie was quick to ‘correct’ Crawford, whipping him with a belt until he was certain that the boy would never breathe a word of it.Apart from the fucked up family dynamic, Crawford had a relatively normal childhood. He had friends, regularly spent his time dragging Danny along to go hang out with them. However, after Danny began partaking in drugs others supplied, Crawford was quick to shut them all out, thinking that he was protecting his little brother, when realistically the inaction led Danny to believe Crawford didn’t care what became of him and created a chasm between them.Upon his father’s wishes, Crawford moved out of their shared home in Daffodil Park into his own trailer at eighteen. He found Cain wandering down the highway enroute to work one morning and has kept the dog ever since.

Daniel “Danny” Kennedy

Twenty-five.
Male.
Unemployed; mooched off of Charlie and occasionally sells for Isaiah.

6’2”.
Half-lidded brown eyes.
Wavy, brown hair
Rabbit-eared jacket.
Lean, athletic build.
Smells of cigarettes, cotton candy, pool water.

Personality

Danny is known to be carefree, impulsive, laid-back, and flirty. Always the fun one, quick to crack a joke or hurl a playful jab someone’s way. Even has a sort of role as being the prince of the trailer park, and it’s no surprise that he can be a bit smug when everyone seems to enjoy his company. He can be a bit of a bully, poking fun at those he has no interest in, but it’s mostly light-hearted. Grudges aren’t something he prefers to keep.Selfishness and a desire to corrupt are always lurking under the surface; if Danny can drag someone down with him via drugs, sex, or alcohol, he will. Deep down, Danny feels deeply unsatisfied with his life and ashamed of himself, but has no idea on how to begin ‘bettering’ himself; it’s easier just to keep doing what he’s been doing. His lack of any real parental figures in his life has manifested in difficulty with commitment, thrill seeking, and an avoidance toward responsibility.

Likes: sex, summer, cringy movies, loud music, breaking shit, smoking, beer, any sort of thrill (as long as it gets the adrenaline pumping).Dislkes: being bored, people who complain too much, morning, rain, being told what to do.

Home

Danny’s camper sits on the lot in the middle of Daffodil Park, prime real estate or whatever. Looks nice enough from the outside, despite being rather small. A kiddie pool sits out front, and in the water is usually where Danny can be found. Inside, it’s a bit cluttered, but not too terribly messy.

Origin

Mae had passed not long after giving birth to Danny: a whole sad affair he had yet to even develop enough memory to properly grieve her. Charlie always kept distant, even admitted that he had never wanted one son, let alone two. Though he wasn’t physically abusive toward Danny, verbal abuse was prevalent. Charlie was never any sort of real father. And Crawford? Crawford and Danny were close when they were young, skipping school to splash around in the creek or dart through Acheron Park pretending to be thieves in the woods. Unfortunately, they grew apart, too.Danny never had a proper family. He’ll say now that none of that’s ever mattered to him much: he’s always been wild, rules and expectations would do nothing but bog him down. That’s extended to his relationships, too. Never had a significant other to tie him down, but has had ample experience shoving his cock or his tongue any place he was allowed. Danny’s never wanted anyone that way, nor has anyone ever seen him as anything more than a good lay and someone to party with. His teenage years were spent doing just that: partying. Sneaking out night after night to get into ample mischief with his friends. Plans of some bright future never occurred to him. He dropped out of school when his grades began to suffer, and hasn’t changed a single thing since reaching adulthood. Same mischief, same Danny. Sometimes with pills, sometimes with booze, often with someone’s mouth wrapped around his dick and music playing loudly to drown out every thought in his head.

Kipper

Twenty-three.
Male.
Local pariah.

6’3”.
Dark brown eyes.
Black hair, shaved on one side.
Strong athletic build.
Smells of sweat and faintly of basil.

Personality

Prone to lying often and coming across as indifferent or childish in situations that Kipper finds uncomfortable. Inconsiderate, but only when it’s to his benefit; if he sees no real reason to engage with someone or fears they’ll only stab him in the back, Kipper couldn’t give a fuck less about their feelings. Tends to steal when he can’t afford the things he needs. Petty and extreme, instigates fights when he feels slighted in some way. Kipper is all over the place when it comes to anything, and doesn’t truly hold any personal beliefs or morals: he does whatever he wants whenever he wants, and does not care to hear anyone’s opinion on it. Considers himself a ‘lone wolf’ and is entirely aware most just view him as an easy lay or a pest. Kipper always pretends he doesn't care about any rumors pertaining to him, especially involving his promiscuity or living conditions, but truth be told he doesn’t enjoy being the outcast in a town full of people worse than him.Despite all of his bad traits, Kipper isn’t a terrible person - he’s only wounded. He’s humorous, sentimental, a hopeless romantic (just terrified of crossing that bridge), affectionate and clingy when he truly does care for someone and finds they care for him, too. Kipper struggles heavily with self-worth and has frequent casual sex to ‘remedy’ it; typically this only makes him feel worse.

Likes: going on little adventures (abandoned building exploration, ghost hunting, cemetery stargazing, etc), sleeping, fairytales (frequently rereads the ones that brought him comfort as a child), stealing, fucking, guns (likes to take them apart, shoot beer cans).Dislkes: criticism and rumors (Kipper is frequently the target of both), consequences of his own shit-talking or stealing (usually means he’s getting his ass kicked), waking up early. Not fond of relationships or mushy lovey-dovey nonsense; the idea is appealing, but Kipper’s convinced no one sees him as anything more than an easy lay.

Home

Kipper lives in a small camper on the far edge of Daffodil Park, out of view from the road and most of the residents living there. The place is sparsely decorated with pilfered necessities, a few torn posters, a busted radio skipper swears he can fix one day and a few deer bones he’s found while roaming about. It’s really nothing special.

Origin

Kipper keeps his past a secret. Growing up in Littlegrove, his life was mostly normal up until his parents’ divorce, leaving Kipper bouncing from his father’s house to his mother’s. His father, Johnathan, developed a nasty temperament when he was drunk, constantly berating Kipper verbally. His mother, Shelly, didn’t provide the safest environment either, constantly bringing acquaintances home for her to sleep with. Kipper immediately moved out of Johnathan’s house and didn’t look back the moment he was able.He sort of showed up around Acheron one day and fit right in with the rest of the creeps in town. Ample drinks and other substances have left Kipper unsure of the details of his former life. His neighbors grew bored or pissy with him and Kipper’s been in the doghouse since the first month he wandered into Acheron. He managed to secure a job of sorts with Charlie Kennedy, the landlord of Daffodil Park, that keeps a roof over his head but hasn’t had much going on other than party crashing and risky hook-ups ever since.

Gary Werner

Twenty-eight.
Male.
Manager at Sunshine Mart.

6’0”.
Brown eyes.
Yellow-blond hair.
Average build.
Smells of mint, peony, and candy.

Personality

A puppy in the form of a grown man. Gary is people pleasing, happy-go-lucky, and all around a total sweetheart. He works hard, intent on saving up so that his future spouse will never have to work (unless, they want to) even if most of his money is given away to his mother. Awkward. Horribly, awfully, terribly awkward. Gary can hold a conversation, but he always seems to say the wrong thing or make things uncomfortable by accident. He truly means well, but he hasn’t had the best upbringing, and it has negatively impacted the way that he speaks to people; avoids being creepy or perverse, but tends to say things no one really cares about at all. At his core, Gary is very lonely, aware that no one likes him much, and is desperate to feel as though he belongs somewhere. Gary is a total kiss-ass and overachiever at work, often putting too much pressure on himself just so he doesn’t have to go home, alone with his own thoughts. Complete pushover: seems to lack the courage to stick up for himself entirely.

Likes: cloudless days where the sun is shining all bright and the birds are singing in their nests, dad jokes, seeing cute families that seem to love one another, animals, kind older folks that like to tell their stories to strangers (him).Dislkes: confrontation, raised voices, being made fun of (even if it is just playful - Gary’s sensitive), having to lock up or open the store alone (it’s creepy when the lights are out!).

Origin

Raised by his mother and stepdad, Gary was always very bright and excitable. School was taken seriously, though Gary ended up losing interest entirely in high school for varying reasons: mainly because life at home seemed to become worse the older he got. His mother and stepdad regularly argued, to the point where Gary would hide in his closet with his hands over his ears in an attempt to shut the world out entirely. No amount of crying or trying to calm them both down ever seemed to stop it, so hiding did the trick. When his stepdad did leave Gary and his mother behind, she began to get overly involved in Gary’s personal life, wanting to know all of his friends, where he was going to and who he spoke to at all hours, and took up abusing alcohol. She became controlling and volatile, targeting her aggression toward Gary, almost seeming to be envious, obsessive, and steering everything into a direction where she seemed the perfect mother and Gary seemed the world’s worst child. This led Gary to dropping out of high school, taking a job at Sunshine Mart and moving out. He doesn’t speak to the friends he had in school, fearing they still think poorly of him due to his mother’s behavior, and seems to consider that any new folks he comes across are already his friends and retains a highly optimistic worldview to fill in that pit of loneliness he perpetually feels.

Isaiah Barry

Thirty.
Male.
Dealer.

6’6”.
Muddy-green eyes.
Black hair.
Muscular build.
Smells of cheap cedarwood cologne, cigarette smoke, sweat.

Personality

Isaiah is charismatic and witty in short bursts, but mean-spirited beneath the surface. Doesn’t take very much to piss him off, but it doesn’t take a lot to make him laugh either. There’s no trying to keep his nose clean anymore: If you want a fight or a baggie of god-knows-what, you’re getting it. Has a need to be the center of attention wherever he goes; likes feeling in total control and having others view him as magnetic. Violence isn’t something he shies away from. Doesn’t bother to hide his vices. Sex is one of them, and Isaiah’s got no qualms using coercion to have his way with someone if they ain’t got the money to buy what they need to drown the world away; cunning and knows just how to manipulate people into getting what he wants. Underneath the shitty exterior, Isaiah’s truly got no bright corners. He’s moody, insecure, paranoid, and feels as though he’s already become just like his father. With friends or those he finds attractive, he’s more keen on putting on a show of being funny and likable. Has rare bursts of vulnerability, but mostly keeps how he’s truly feeling suppressed. When Isaiah does seem soft, it’s brief and accidental.

Likes: money, muscle cars, being owed money (means it’s an easy leeway into getting his dick wet), pretty women (especially the ones that think they can save him), submissive men.Dislkes: anyone that thinks they can mouth off, being compared to his father, talking about family, commitment.

Origin

Born and raised in the next county over, Isaiah never really knew his mother. She’d left when he was barely old enough to talk in. Roy Barry was known for bar fights, domestic charges and a slew of public indecency stunts, and his reputation ultimately made a younger Isaiah half-ashamed and half-proud that everyone knew his pops. Good reason or bad, it never made a difference. He quit school at sixteen, believing Roy when he told him he didn’t need it. Isaiah started dealing drugs at nineteen, convinced that it was the way to get he and his dad out of poverty. For a while, that worked. Saved up enough for Roy to move out to Acheron while Isaiah had his own place back in his hometown. Things began to fall apart when women became his primary fixation. Ended up getting a girlfriend or two pregnant, abandoned them the moment he met Cat at twenty-four. A year later, he was busted for roughing her up during a bad fight and spent a year in county jail for it.After his release, Isaiah moved in with his father in Acheron. All the bravado of former years seemed sucked out of him entirely; he came out of it quieter, less patient, and utterly convinced any feelings were a liability.
